Best Scared-as-S**t Performance - Rosamund Pike, Gone Girl
Of all the things that can be said about this performance, does it ever really cross into "scared"? There's a small scene where she's being robbed, but she spends 99% of the film in complete control of everything and everyone around her. Hell, Ben Affleck or Carrie Coon would have been better picks from the same movie. This category is better when it's nominees have no idea what's happening.
Suggested replacement nominee: Tom Cruise, Edge of Tomorrow
Best Villain - Meryl Streep, Into the Woods
The main reason she's here is that I'm not even sure the character is a villain. Sure, she does some misguided things, but she's not the responsible party for most of the destruction that takes place in her movie. If we're nominating someone who gets turned around, at least have them be evil for most of the movie.
Suggested replacement nominee: Will Ferrell, The Lego Movie
Best Comedic Performance - Kevin Hart, The Wedding Ringer
Not to diss Hart or his performance; it's just that this movie seems completely forgotten by the public, and it only came out six weeks ago. I get that they'd want one of the moment's hottest stars, but why do that when it means leaving out a legend from a movie with three other nominations?
Suggested replacement nominee: Michael Keaton, Birdman, or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
Best Musical Moment - Jennifer Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1
I'm mostly just including this because the dance remix of this song that was played on the radio last year was thematically disturbing. I'm a little saddened that The Lego Movie couldn't even break through here, considering how much it's main theme played into the action.
